The Youth Alternative Program provides workshops and one-on-one support to assist vulnerable children and youth. The Youth Facilitator offers skill-based workshops for children (7-12) and youth (13-24) using the Botvin Life Skills Program curriculum.  The workshops are offered in both community and school settings. The curriculum focuses on key skills aimed at increasing personal capacity and development in self-esteem, decision making, risk taking, substance misuse, violence prevention, coping skills and healthy relationships.  The ideal candidate will be skilled in behavior management, group facilitation and adapting the curriculum to meet the diverse learning needs of the children and youth. The Youth Facilitator also offers one-on-one support to workshop participants who may require supplementary support services. Parents or caregivers are engaged in supporting the transfer of skills learned through involvement in parent/caregiver orientation sessions.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in Human Services.
  • Experience in facilitating groups in the community and in a classroom (preferably with children and youth).
  • Experience in early childhood education.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and counseling skills.
  • Strong program planning, time management & administrative abilities are required.
  • This position requires that you have a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance coverage. 
  • Successful candidate must also have a Child Welfare Intervention Check and Police Check (current within 6 months).

Salary Range:     $51,083.00 - $56,758.00
