Vecova is a leading edge registered charitable service and research organization that has been meeting the needs of persons with disabilities and the community-at-large since 1969 through our services, research and enterprises. We are a recognized leader in the Community Disability Services sector and are an affiliate institute of the University of Calgary. We provide a wide range of supports and services (e.g. Living Supports Services, Employment Services and Wellness Services) in Calgary and the Bow Valley Corridor for persons with disabilities so they may reach their fullest potential and benefit from the highest possible quality of life. Vecova also operates several successful social enterprises that have a social mandate.

Due to our growth and expansion we have an opportunity for a Researcher with experience in data analysis (i.e. data usage, data collection, data management and monitoring and evaluation activities etc.) to join our Research and Strategic Services team and support Vecova’s Data Strategy Program.

The Researcher will responsible for carrying out various aspects of Vecova’s Research and Strategic Services (i.e. research services, strategic services, evaluation services and knowledge mobilization services) and ensuring that these activities are consistent with the vision, mission, values and guiding principles of Vecova.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the lead Researcher on assigned strategic, business and operational evaluations, and carry out all aspects of research and evaluation design and implementation.
  • Providing support to facilitate the ongoing process of program design, implementation and continuous quality improvement including: designing and developing data processes, quality standards and evaluation tools.
  • Leading assigned initiatives and developing research proposals, preparing grant applications, designing research initiatives, collecting and analyzing data and preparing research reports for knowledge exchange.
  • Participating in stakeholder consultation meetings to identify continuous quality improvement opportunities, gaps and needs.
  • Supervising research assistants, project assistants and practicum students, and monitoring work quality and evaluating performance.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Master’s Degree in the Social Sciences, Business Administration or Statistics or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in leading research projects or monitoring and evaluation initiatives for diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and evaluation methodologies and practice including data collection, data management, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data to support informed decision making.
  • Experience in conducting market research, strategic and/or business planning or business development.
  • Experience leading strategic, business and operational projects, and carrying out all aspects of project management and implementation.
