.8 FTE – 30 hours per week

The Project Coordinator/Business Liaison is responsible for daily supervision and administration of all project components including promotion, client recruitment, training, work experience placements, client follow up and project reporting. This position maintains close contact with the project staff to provide support with issues and challenges arising on a daily basis that requires leadership and decision-making. The Project Coordinator/Business Liaison will be responsible for liaising with current CIWA business and community contacts and developing new prospects in order to identify mutually beneficial employment opportunities.


Project Coordinator

  • Coordinate and participate in project promotion and orientation
  • Coordinate client recruitment for the project
  • Coordinate and supervise curriculum compilation and development
  • Identify and coordinate special instructors/ guest speakers for leadership training and enhanced computer skills training
  • Supervise staff providing training, hands-on classroom experience and one-on-one counseling for participants
  • Coordinate and conduct follow-up support for participants
  • Prepare project evaluation tools
  • Organize participants work site visits/ audits
  • Recruit, coordinate and supervise project volunteers
  • Organize 10 week employment/ work experience placements for participants
  • Coordinate and conduct follow ups with collaborating project partners
  • Conduct follow ups with project participants
  • Evaluate the project according to proposal requirements
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to funders and to the Department Manager
  • Support project staff in project implementation
  • Coordinate the development of measurement tools for the project
  • Ensure client data entry is complete in CMS and iCARE databases
  • Business Liaison
  • Liaise and coordinate communication with collaborating project partners
  • Create and foster relationships with business partners
  • Develop and maintain solid partnerships that create and enhance mutually beneficial programs or services and collaborative initiatives geared toward employment for immigrant and refugee women
  • Promote CIWA within the corporate world and community agencies/partners through the development of comprehensive project outreach plans
  • Coordinate and participate in project promotion, outreach and orientation in the business and broader community in support of project priorities
  • Research and identify industries and companies that employ large numbers of immigrant and refugee women
  • Submit monthly statistical and written reports
  • Attend and participate in CIWA events as required
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Manager

  • Post-secondary education in the area of Communications Studies, Education, Humanities, and/or Social Sciences
  • Experience in project management, planning, implementation, and logic models is required
  • Supervisory experience in a not for profit environment
  • Experience with and/or sound knowledge of marketing and outreach
  • Proven experience developing and fostering business partnerships and collaborations
  • Experience with and/or sound knowledge of curriculum development considered an asset
  • Understanding of outcome measurement tools
  • Proven experience in proposal/report writing including a high degree of business writing skills
  • Computer literacy and strong communication skills
  • Experience working with immigrants dealing with language barriers
  • Appreciation and knowledge of cultural diversity/experience working with an immigrant population
  • Strong team work skills and the ability to work using a participatory management style
