Program Facilitator, Youth Connections

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Calgary and Southern Alberta. With over 35 years of solid community experience, 70 active programs, and comprehensive wraparound support, CCIS ensures that our services respond to the needs of ethnically diverse communities within Calgary and area.


CCIS is seeking to fill 2 – 0.5 FTE positions from this posting.


Our Youth Connections Program Facilitator will focus on collaborating with various stakeholders in the community, such as schools, to support the settlement and integration of new Canadian youth. This position focuses on building youth capacity through promoting volunteerism, diversity education, and mobilizing resources to eliminate barriers to inclusion.


Our Youth Connections Program Facilitator collaborates closely with all Resettlement & Integration Services (RIS) division staff to deliver activities for Youth and Children’s Programs at CCIS.




While this position is a part of the collective RIS Youth and Children’s Programs, the successful applicant is primarily responsible for aspects of the Youth Connections program including, but not limited to:


  • Liaising with partner schools, community organizations and other CCIS programs
  • Recruiting, retaining and empowering youth through school-based and extracurricular activities
  • Planning and implementing innovative, effective and engaging programming for youth
  • Delivering diversity workshops for youth, and adults who work with youth, to build cross-cultural understanding and inclusion
  • Evaluation and Reporting
  • Other relevant settlement and integration tasks as needed by RIS management




  • A degree in Education, Social Work or related field
  • Experience, passion and capability to meaningfully support, engage and empower youth
  • Ability to create opportunities to build and enhance youth’s capacity through substantive leadership roles, training, etc.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team, in a diverse work environment and with relevant stakeholders
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule/hours, including evenings and weekends
  • A current valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required
  • Must have knowledge of, and experience with, cultural diversity
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with coworkers, partners and youth
  • Must have extremely strong communication skills – written, verbal, and computer
  • Must be responsible, highly organized and proactive
  • Must be flexible and collaborative
  • Must take initiative and be self-motivated
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of the settlement processes is an asset




This opportunity is for a 20 hour per week position. This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
