Payroll Coordinator

We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail oriented Payroll Coordinator for our Human Resources Department.  Working in a dynamic environment, you are a deadline driven individual with exceptional attention to detail.

 

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and timely handling of all matters relating to payroll.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation and distribution of payroll with critical deadlines.
  • Advising management and employees on interpretation of the related Collective Agreement articles, government legislation and internal policy.
  • Upkeep of employees files.
  • Maintaining automated accounting systems for all payroll cheques, entries, accounts etc.
  • Preparing all monthly remittances for statutory deductions, etc.
  • Providing client service both internally and externally on all payroll and benefits related issues.
  • Assisting in preparation of annual operating budget staffing sheets.
  • Reviewing and tracking all staff changes throughout the year.
  • Providing backup to Benefits Coordinator during absences.
  • Involvement on committees, with Human Resources Manager’s approval.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Professional Designation with the Canadian Payroll Association is required.
  • 2-4 years of direct payroll experience is required.
  • Experience processing payroll in Dayforce by Ceridian or similar system is preferred.
  • Experience in preparation of payroll with benefits.
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent information technology skills including word, excel and outlook.
