Organizational Support Staff

Organizational Support Staff Summer job posting, May 1 – August 31, 2019

Centre for Suicide Prevention (CSP) is an education centre, equipping people with the knowledge and skills to respond to people at risk of suicide. A branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, we educate through secondary research, social media, publications, web-based learning and workshops; we run more than 400 workshops a year. We also house the largest English library dedicated to suicide and suicide related research and literature.

CSP is seeking a summer (May – August) position for a full-time Organizational Support Staff to assist with operational duties. The work term is 16 weeks total; however, the start and end dates are negotiable.

This position is based on a 35-hour work week. It is expected that the Organizational Support Staff works five 7-hour days each week during office hours; overtime should rarely accrue but may in relation to special weekend and evening events. Salary for this position is minimum wage.


Responsibilities include

  • Workshop related duties
    • Assisting with workshop registration.
    • Helping to set up workshops in the Learning Centre.
    • Research related duties
      • Literature search.
      • Support knowledge translation.
      • Clerical tasks
        • Shipping workshop materials.
        • Booking travel on behalf of Trainers.
          • Other duties as required



The Organizational Support Staff must have strong written and verbal communication skills. A successful candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision and stay within prescribed parameters. They should be task-oriented and demonstrate attention to detail. This role provides support to the many staff members and is responsible for helping maintain the ongoing function of the office.



Minimum requirements

  • Current post secondary student returning to full-time studies in the Fall .
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, plus database experience
  • Intrinsically motivated and dependable
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
