Job Summary:

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Office Administrator. This position is responsible for ensuring organization sustainability by making certain that efficient and effective controls and business and administrative practices are in place across the organization.  It includes duties related to assisting the Executive Director in the overall operations of the Alberta Seventh Step Society. 


Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of administrative and finance experience (included by not limited to preparation of monthly and yearly financial reports, payroll and benefits, processing accounts receivable and invoices, and possess a proven understanding of Human Resources and Labour legislation)
  • Administration and finance certification/post secondary or equivalent professional experience
  • Technologically savvy and familiarity with QuickBooks and all Microsoft Office products
  • Eligibility to obtain Federal security clearance is mandatory


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for Success:

  • Achieve results with priority, be detail oriented, and possess the ability to work to meet deadlines in a timely fashion
  • Strong working knowledgeable of current financial reporting and accounting practices
  • Be technologically competent (e.g. QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, Access, etc.) 
  • Able to analyze expenditure management and recommend cost efficiency measures where appropriate
  • Able to communicate clearly with other employees, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Director
  • Possess an acceptable understanding of human resource policies and Provincial and Canada employment requirements
  • Develop an understanding of the Society’s vision and mission and work to achieve such


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements
  • Prepare payroll, and benefits in accordance with good practices of internal control and accepted accounting principles (includes controlling the development, implementation, maintenance and integrity of the accounting, management information, computer and control systems)
  • Invoicing and processing accounts receivables
  • Prepare records and documents of origin for each annual audit
  • Maintenance and recommendation of financial policies
  • Coordination of budget processes
  • File and meet the Alberta Registries and Canada Revenue Agency Charities Directorate’s requirements
  • Be a financial resource for the Board Treasurer
  • Provide support and assistance to the Executive Director
