Office Administrator

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR REQUIRED
A one-year leave position is available to fulfill a varied office administrator role. There is potential for the role to become permanent.

Connections has helped strengthen families for 30 years. Connections supports parents with cognitive challenges through strengths-based one-on-one, in-home supports, group programs, and community referrals so that parents are successful maintaining safe and nurturing homes for their children.

The Office Administrator is a key person to support a team of 12 people who work remotely, and four who are in the office. The position can be fulfilled as either a permanent, part-time role at 30 hours per week or full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities: This role reports to the Agency and Program Directors and provides reception and client greeting, support for bookkeeping, caseload administration (client information in compliance with contracts), human resources support, and office management (overseeing IT support, ordering supplies, liaison with building maintenance, office set-up for meetings/events).

Qualifications: Experience with bookkeeping, records management, and expertise managing and using office systems are required. Advanced proficiency with standard office software (Excel, MS Word) is also required. Familiarity with either or both of Alberta Government’s Children’s Services or Persons with Developmental Disabilities systems is a definite advantage. A police check and child welfare check will be required.

Personal skills: The successful candidate will have an excellent record for reliability, be a problem solver, and, most important, have a warm and friendly disposition responding to a broad range of people in the office, on the phone and via email. Maturity and accountability are required to balance working independently while supporting the team, as well as vulnerable clients and their confidential information. Everyone at Connections takes on tasks as needed and supports peers and clients at every opportunity.

Compensation: Pay is between $22 and $25 per hour, depending on experience. Paid vacation of 3 weeks for full-time hours is included, in addition to paid days off during the Christmas/New Year’s break.
