Ksisskstaki Ikamotaan Youth Outreach Worker

The Agency

 The Program

The Ksisskstaki Ikamotaan Youth Outreach Program supports multi-barriered youth ages 12-24 who may have been involved with or are at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system. Ksisskstaki Ikamotaan programming offers client-centred, trauma-informed, one-to-one support, family mediation, crisis resolution, counselling, goal-setting, assistance securing housing, and assistance finding and maintaining employment.

The Position

The Outreach Worker will report to the Community Services Manager and work in an integrated and collaborative way with the Youth Services Team, wider CJHS Team and the community to ensure youth enhance their coping skills, are connected to appropriate resources and develop pro-social skills to engage positive change by offering one-to-one support, family mediation, crisis resolution and navigating systems including education, health and justice. The Outreach Worker also collaborates with external service providers to identify complementary services and resources and provide cultural awareness programming to support the work within the agency.

 Qualifications and Expertise:

  • Minimum of three years of experience working with Indigenous and marginalized youth
  • Solid case management and social work skills
  • Crisis prevention/intervention skills and sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the youth and adult criminal justice systems
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

 The successful Outreach Worker will have a post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e. human services, child and youth care, etc.) and a current Child Welfare Intervention Screen. This position is a full-time (37.5 hour per week) full benefit position.
