Kisisskstaki Ikamotaan Outreach Program – Activities Coordinator

The Agency

The Program

The Kisisskstaki Ikamotaan Youth Outreach Program supports multi-barriered youth aged 12 to 24 who may have been involved with or are at-risk of involvement with the criminal justice system. Kisisskstaki Ikamotaan programming offers client centred, trauma informed one to one support, family mediation, crisis resolution, counselling, goal setting, assistance securing housing, assistance finding and maintaining employment.  

The Position

Reporting to the Community Services Manager, the Activities Coordinator will function within the current program team, and work in collaboration with the Youth Services Team and Cultural Liaison to:

  • Plan and organize a variety of activities for Indigenous youth (ex. Recreation, living skills, employability, etc.)
  • Liaise with and organize Elder directed groups
  • Organize cultural activities for program and agency participants
  • Work closely with the Outreach Workers to determine appropriate group activities based on participant goals
  • Develop a strong, collaborative relationship with the Indigenous community


  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field and a minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Experience in activity planning, promotion and evaluation, engaging high risk youth, and facilitating group workshops is required
  • Experience working with the target population
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Indigenous culture and teachings
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills


This position is term certain from June 17 to August 30, 2019.  30 hours per week. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required. The successful applicant will have a reliable means of transportation.
