Internal Communications Coordinator

Primary Responsibilities:   

-This position assists with the planning, coordination, organization, auditing and implementation of internal communication opportunities at Calgary Food Bank. 

-Support organizational goals through the development and maintenance of key relationships within the Calgary Food Bank.  

-The Calgary Food Bank is a leader in the community – a trusted advisor and information provider. The Internal Communications Coordinator is a forward-thinking individual that will help communicate key messages to internal and external stakeholders. 

Tasks performed:  

-Assist in ensuring all internal communications align with the organizational vision, values, priorities and brand. 
-Liaise with supervisors and managers regularly in support of effective internal communications and document management. 
-Organizational expert on SharePoint Online, Yammer and other internal communication and document management tools. 

 -Plan and execute annual internal communication events including town halls, content updates and assist with semi-annual Health and Safety Weeks. 

-Assist Media Design Coordinator with implementing and monitoring social media platforms, online email campaigns and website content updates.  
Skills and Capabilities: 
-In this cross-functional role, balance the needs of the multiple departments in consideration of overall organizational strategies and goals.  
-Make decisions related to document management policies. 
-Draft and publish internal communications with a high degree of accuracy and effectiveness. 
-Decide how best to meet defined objectives and targets with reference to departmental and organizational resources. 

Education and experience:  

-Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field such as Communications, Marketing or Business Administration.  
-Minimum five years’ related work experience in internal communications.  
-Advanced skills in the usage, integration and interdependencies of the Office 365 applications.  
-Experience creating, configuring and using SharePoint permissions, libraries, lists, pages, views and navigation.  
-Experience with managing social media platforms.  

-Experience with WordPress, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe InDesign an asset. 
-Understanding of not-for-profit organizations and the charitable sector. 

Hours of Work: This is a full time, 37. 5 hours per week, 5 days a week, 7.5 hours a day position. Candidate must be available to occasionally work outside of normal business hours (evenings and weekend) with advanced notice.
