Gift In Kind Coordinator

Part-time position - 18 hours per week

Purpose of the Position

This position works under the direction of the Director of Resource Development and Communications (RDC) to achieve specific assigned resource development objectives. The Resource Development Gift In Kind Coordinator manages all aspects of assigned areas, including the strategy and management of the Gift In Kind donations. 

As part of the RDC team, the incumbent will contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive Resource Development strategy to enable CWES to meet its strategic goals. This position is responsible for the following areas of the overall RDC plan:

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Responsible for tracking, pricing, sorting, and processing all Gift In Kind donations.
  • Management of Gift In Kind volunteers who will assist with sorting, pricing, storage, and delivery to the warehouse or Shelter. 
  • Responsible for the inventory of all Gift In Kind donations received, leaving, and sent out of the CWES administration office.
  • Work with the Emergency Shelter staff and volunteers to ensure their basic essential items are stocked appropriately.
  • Provide a monthly report to the Director of RDC on the approximate value of Gift In Kind donations received.
  • Liaise and work closely with the warehouse staff regarding the storage of basic essential items.
  • Monitor the donations line, ensuring there is an updated message when required. Answer and return all calls to the donations line and/or pass along to the relevant RDC staff person. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is preferable.
  • Possess strong organizational skills for effective coordination of Gift In Kind program.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel, and willing to learn new software.
  • Ability to interact within all levels of staff.
  • Has the ability to set priorities and manage workloads with minimal supervision; self-motivated with strong self-management ability.
  • Experience working in a professional and confidential capacity.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment and establish strong collaborative working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the public, donors, and sponsors.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Able to lift 30+ lbs, as necessary. 

Other Information

  • This position requires a valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle.  Mileage will be reimbursed.
  • This position is conditional on the following: successfully passing a criminal records (Vulnerable Sector) search and an intervention record check. 
  • In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
  • This position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
