Financial Empowerment Programming Manager

Welcome to Sunrise Community Link Resource Centre. We are a community development organization and resource centre for the people of East Calgary. We work primarily within 18 diverse communities in East Calgary. Each year we offer over 3,000 community members and their families:

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a full time Financial Empowerment Programming Manager to join our team. You will be accountable for our financial empowerment programming including our work in Taxation and Benefits, Matched-Savings programming, financial coaching and RESPs. This role involves leadership, facilitation, network building and impact measurement. We are looking for a unique individual; an individual who is focused on growing compassion, solving problems creatively, and who is committed to walking beside people in their journeys. The Financial Empowerment Program Manager reports directly to our Manager of People and Programming.



What you will be doing:

Program Delivery:

  • Facilitate recruitment, project planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of financial empowerment programs and services including Tax Clinics, Financial Coaching, Sunrise $avings, and RESPs,
  • Coordinate Sunrise tax clinics, manage and build relationships with tax clinic volunteers, and liaise with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program,
  • Advocate on behalf of clients with agencies, departments and systems as required.

Program Management

  • Lead and support the 13 agencies that participate in the Aspire Network’s Taxation and Benefits Community of Practice by hosting training, facilitating collaborations, creating and sharing logistical information and maintaining the group’s SharePoint tools,
  • Act as the expert troubleshooting and go-to person for tax clinics held across the city during tax-time,
  • Work to continuously build your knowledge on taxation and benefits information and maintain strong relationships with taxation experts so they may help support you, as you support the Community of Practice,  
  • Manage impact measurement data for all four financial empowerment programs, create impact storytelling content and disseminate communications on Financial Empowerment Programs to stakeholders,
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships within Calgary’s Aspire network and the National Financial Empowerment Network (Prosper Canada),
  • Build and maintain programmatic theories of change and logic models for Financial Empowerment programs, as needed.

Logistics of the role:

  • Our location is off 17th Ave SE and is accessible via transit
  • Our centre is open in the evening until 8pm two to three times a week
  • We host activities on Saturdays once every few months
  • We are bursting at the seams in our building, so please be ready for a small workspace

This position will start as soon as a suitable person is found. At Sunrise, we operate on 37.5 hours per week. The salary for this position is 52,770/year (non-negotiable) plus benefits and an RRSP match-plan.
