Executive Director, Lionheart Foundation

“Building the whole girl”

Lionheart Foundation strives to empower adolescent girls and young women to achieve strong mental health and well-being. We believe in the inherent value of adolescent girls and young women and that all girls and young women can overcome past self-harming behaviors to live healthy, productive lives with positive relationships.

What Do We Do:

In fulfilling our objects Lionheart Foundation’s priorities are to provide financial support through subsidies to girls and families, removing financial barriers for girls to access best in class therapy and therapeutic services. The Foundation also provides specialized training and professional seminars regarding approaches and treatment methods that enhance the skills of counsellors, therapists, and professionals working with adolescent girls, young women and their families.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Board of Directors the Executive Director(“ED”) is responsible for the successful leadership and overall management of the Foundation. We are looking for an ED that is a highly motivated leader and management professional committed to the objects and vision of the Foundation and the ultimate implementation of the vision and stewardship of the organization. The position requires outstanding leadership, demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful fundraising, exceptional organizational development experience and skills, and a deep knowledge of the not for profit environment.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Proven senior organizational leadership and strategic planning experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a role that combines fund development and operations

  • Solid understanding of charitable sector governance, with proficiency working with and reporting to a board

    of directors

    Governance and Board Relations:

  • Experience working with a Board of Directors to establish best practices in governance and fiduciary responsibilities, including the development and implementation of key organizational policies, procedures and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Ability to provide timely, thorough, and relevant reporting and materials for the board of directors review, approval and knowledge.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Fund Development:

  • Proven ability with fund development and donor recognition plan development and execution

  • Experience stewarding relationships with donors, funders and contributors.

  • Ability to work with the Board of Directors to manage and implement key fundraising events for the


Organizational Effectiveness and Management:

  • Past experience developing and monitoring effective implementation of the Foundation’s annualbusiness/operational plan and budget.

  • Proven skill with the development of and implementation of organizational policies and procedures.

  • Extensive experience managing and providing supervision to professional staff, agents and contractors.

    Finance and Asset Management:

  • Past experience preparing accurate, timely financial reports, statements, and banking transactions; including tax receipting and regulatory audits and filings.

  • Proven ability to work with the board to prepare a comprehensive annual budget and ongoing monitoring of the budget.

    Communications and Marketing:

• Experience developing content for written, electronic and social media communications and marketing materials for the foundation

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years management and senior leadership experience.

  • Masters level or Post-Secondary Degree in one of the preferred areas: human services, business, public

    administration, philanthropy.
    This is a permanent part-time leadership positon that offers competitive remuneration.
