Director, Community Impact

United Way of Calgary and Area is the largest non-government source of funding for human care and community support programs in the Calgary region. United Way works with its community partners to build sustainable solutions for the future, while providing services today to improve lives of people when they need it most.

United Way of Calgary and Area is looking for a full-time Director, Community Impact to join the Community Impact and Partnership department. Reporting to the Vice President, Community Impact and Partnerships, the Director, Community Impact will create the conditions for maximizing community impact through supporting the performance of a highly integrated team and building the capacity of the community to transform and optimize the experience of the most vulnerable individuals in Calgary.

Responsibilities  
  • Implement the Community Impact Framework and Investment Plan
  • Build key relationships and engage with stakeholders within the social sector and across sectors
  • Apply a systems lens to addressing social issues and creating community impact
  • Oversee the development, implementation and transition of broad signature initiatives
  • Work cross functionally with other departments to support organizational direction
  • Work in partnership to build the capacity of the community to support a coordinated system of care
  • Provide leadership to CI employees and implement performance management processes
  • Lead and facilitate volunteer committees that support community impact work
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline and at least five years’ experience in a senior management position
  • Ability to envision and catalyze transformational change in the community
  • Aptitude to think strategically and at a systems level
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to support staff in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Superior skills in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders within and outside the social sector
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication with demonstrated strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, financial management, project management and evaluation skills
