Development Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Manager of Development and Events, the Development Assistant will have responsibilities to assist in the planning, coordination and administration of the AARC Fund Development and Event Department. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, enthusiastic individual who is looking to begin their career in the non-profit sector. This is an entry level position with salary negotiable dependent on experience.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Update and maintain donor and prospect database.
  • Generate and record correspondence and receipts to donors.
  • Arrange meetings and conference calls.
  • Prepare agenda and minutes for meetings.
  • Proof reading and document editing as required.
  • Assist with physical and electronic event mailouts.
  • Assist as directed with AARC events including the Miracle Gala, Golf Tournament, Stampede Breakfast, third party fundraisers and any other additional events as required.
  • Assist with all administration and solicitation for events –live and silent auction, raffles, signage, event program and program outline, sponsorship and ticket registration spreadsheets.
  • Manage AARC’s Social Media including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service to donors, volunteers and community partners.
  • Work collaboratively with AARC staff, parent and alumni volunteers.
  • Work occasional evenings and/or weekends as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Post-secondary education or related experience
    • One to three years previous experience in an administrative role
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Intermediate skill using Microsoft Office programs, including Excel
    • Strong organization ability, planning skills, work well under pressure, prioritize work and attention to detail
    • Self-motivated individual with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
    • Team player that can also work independently
    • Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines
    • Effectively manage multiple priorities at one time
    • Adaptability and able to adjust to changing priorities as needed
    • Non-profit and/or event planning experience is an asset
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and database programs is an asset
    • Professionalism and diplomacy
