Communications and Digital Media Specialist (20 Month Term)

Using strong research, project management, copywriting, layout and digital content management skills, the Specialist creates tools that highlight the need and impact of community support in order to inspire investments in the Foundation’s funding priorities. The Specialist plays a prominent role in identifying, developing and implementing digital media strategies for the ACHF. He or she also shares responsibility for the successful implementation of the strategic plan, as approved by the Board. This is a twenty month, temporary full-time position, with the possibility of extension.


Key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:


  • Actively contribute to the strategic development of Foundation communications (via print, radio, television, video, online and events) that inspire community investment in ACHF funding priorities, including:
    • Writing and producing materials highlighting “success stories” that increase public awareness and support.
    • Developing customized proposals and stewardship reports to demonstrate to prospective and current donors the need, impact and value of community investment.
    • Creating speaking notes for ACHF representatives in their roles as spokespeople for the Foundation.
    • Assisting in the execution of meaningful programs for donor cultivation, stewardship, recognition and media events.
  • Serve as an expert resource in the strategic design, development and implementation of the ACHF digital platform to increase awareness, fundraising results, donor/supporter acquisition, engagement, and retention. This includes management and content creation for the Foundation’s website, e-newsletters, and social media channels. As well, the Specialist will:
    • Support the revitalization of the Foundation digital strategy, including the identification, design, creation and implementation of new content on a new and/or augmented CMS platform.
    • Collaborate and build capacity across all departments to optimize online integration and increase organizational fluency and utilization of Blackbaud Luminate and other Content Management Systems adopted by the organization.
    • Review and analyze performance metrics. Provide recommendations for continual improvement based on results.
    • Support employees, managers and other key stakeholders in the successful resolution of online related matters.
  • Identify and actively recruit appropriate Alberta’s Children’s Hospital (ACH) and Alberta’s Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI) specialists and families to participate as Foundation ambassadors in support of fundraising activities.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of the Foundation’s strategic plan, including the communications department’s annual operational plan.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with members of the ACHF staff and volunteer teams to advance the mission in a collaborative, integrated manner.

 

Qualifications:


  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Journalism, Communications, Digital Marketing or related field.  
  • At least five years of progressive experience in Communications or Marketing, including specific experience in digital platform management. Communications experience in a health care environment would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent writing, layout, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in content-managed websites, email marketing and fully-integrated digital-traditional communications. Advanced knowledge of digital and social media strategies, trends, best practices and tactics.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and time-sensitive environment.
  • Dependable, flexible, and resourceful with excellent team and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint, Excel and Word), Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign and Photoshop), Google Analytics and Hoot Suite.
  • Proficient in Blackbaud Luminate and other content management systems. Basic HTML skills considered an asset.
