We are currently seeking someone who has a passion for working with children and families experiencing challenges with disabilities.  The Clinician will be responsible for direct counseling with parents/caregiver and providing supports to a team of behavioral aides.  The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of special needs/disabilities and be able to provide support to parents/caregivers around understanding a child’s diagnosis, increasing sibling knowledge and understanding, dealing with grief & loss around a diagnosis, co-parenting challenges, increasing understanding of family dynamics, and understanding and approaching any parental mental health challenges.  Ideally, the successful candidate will be familiar with FSCD funding. Training in trauma informed care, and EMDR would be an asset. He/she will demonstrate strength based counseling skills and have excellent organizational and communication skills. He/she will work within a 40 -hour work week, with the expectation that those hours will be flexible to include a minimum of 2 evenings a week to meet the needs of clients outside a 9-5 work schedule.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work. Registration with appropriate College.
  • Minimum three years of related experience working with children / youth and/or families in a counselling setting.
  • Ability to utilize strong research and evaluation skills.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of community resources.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess strong communication skills, time management and very sound comprehension of boundaries.
  • The ability to work flexible hours which may include some evening and /or weekend sessions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with culturally diverse clients.
  • A current (no more than 6 months old) Police Check and Child Intervention check.

Salary Range:   $ 70,179.00 - $77,976.00 per year depending on qualifications
