Associate, Community Initiatives and Events (Kids Helping Kids Program Lead)

The Associate will engage, organize, empower and mobilize youth in their journey from emerging philanthropists to lifelong supporters, with a focus on the growth of existing fundraising initiatives and the development of new ones.  The Associate will work in close collaboration with both youth and leaders in schools and community groups, to increase awareness, build and enhance relationships, support fundraising initiatives, and cultivate the growth of lifelong philanthropists. Through these relationships, the role will identify, recruit, and engage youth leaders for the ACHF Youth Council and will oversee council meetings, activities, and fundraising initiatives, ensuring that the overall experience of youth council members is both positive and fulfilling. 

In addition to the qualifications outlined below, the ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about working with children and youth, have infectious energy and enthusiasm, and the ability to mobilize youth to achieve fundraising success while making fundraising fun. To ensure we are flexible in meeting the needs of our young donors, the regular hours of work include one evening per week at minimum and the role will be required to attend weekend and evening events on an as needed basis. When these events take place, we are flexible with scheduling to ensure days off are enjoyed at alternate times. A valid driver’s license and a vehicle is required for this position (reimbursement for mileage will be provided when on Foundation business).  

Key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to: 

  • Accountable as the program lead and ambassador for the KHK program including:
    • Development and execution of a growth strategy for the program that considers both diversity and geographical reach;
    • Supporting the full cycle of KHK fundraising initiatives;
    • Providing information about programs, capital equipment, research needs, and fundraising priorities for the ACH to donors in support of their fundraising efforts;
    • Stewardship of KHK donors inclusive of cheque presentations and celebrations both onsite and offsite;
    • Management and execution of the school initiative program with a focus on enhancing existing partnerships and establishing new relationships;
    • Coordination and facilitation of KHK events (e.g. Annual KHK Celebration, Juniors Golf Tournament).
  • Act as the ACHF representative and identify/recruit members for the Youth Council, providing guidance and mentorship, coordinating meetings (evening), sharing expertise as well as leadership to ensure the success of the annual Metamorphosis Gala event. 
  • Work collaboratively with the   CI team to coordinate, facilitate, and provide support for ACHF signature events, major initiatives, ACH tours, cheque presentations, lunch and learns, donor specific events and donor presentations in order to build and drive support, enhance their fundraising efforts and appropriately steward guests, donors, and sponsors. 
  • Maintain accurate donor records and ensure donor communications and activities are entered into Raiser’s Edge and recorded in the filing system.
  • Build knowledge and understanding of all major programs in order to support donors in their fundraising efforts by providing information about the programs, capital equipment and research needs of the ACH.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image; remain diplomatic and tactful at all times with an understanding of confidentiality in dealing with a variety of issues, stakeholders and donors.



  • Post-Secondary degree in a related field; suitable combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • 2 years of direct experience in Fundraising; preference will be given to those with events experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with children, youth, families and volunteers.
  • Resounding passion for working with children and building youth philanthropy.
  • Well-developed and professional verbal and written communication skills with previous experience in building and delivering presentations.
  • Excellent project management skills with strength in prioritization and organization.
  • Energetic and able to multi-task in a time sensitive and dynamic environment.
  • Database proficiency required; intermediate experience with Raiser’s Edge software, including developing queries and reports, is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled and able to travel within the city limits.
