The Program – (Base Camp)

Base Camp is a wilderness based addiction Treatment program for youths aged 13 – 17. The purpose of the program is introduction of coping patterns in a successful return to main stream living.


The Position – Shift Supervisor

A Base Camp Shift Supervisor primarily ensures the day to day delivery of an adventure therapy addiction treatment program in accordance with agency directives, policies, priorities within the Service Operating Requirements established within the young adult treatment provincial program.  Also ensuring daily program activities are in compliance with accreditation and wilderness industry standards. In consultation with the program therapists shift supervisors are also responsible for implementing the therapeutic direction of the program.


For Consideration Applicants Will Need to Demonstrate the Following

  • Applicants should have minimally a degree/diploma in the Human Service field.
  • Experience with youth in a group living environment (one to three years).
  • Be aware of trauma informed practices, and be reliable and able to work independently.
  • Two to three years’ exposure and experience with Experiential Learning.
  • One to two years exposure Adventure Therapy.
  • Dispute resolution skills.
  • One year experience managing logistics.
  • A current criminal record check including vulnerable sector (completed within last 6 months).
  • A current Alberta Intervention Record check (completed within last 6 months).
