Director of Development

Vecova is a leading edge registered non-profit charitable service and research organization that has been meeting the needs of persons with disabilities and the community-at-large since 1969. We are a recognized leader in the Community Disability Services sector and are an affiliate institute of the University of Calgary. We provide a wide range of supports and services (e.g., Living Supports Services; Employment and Enterprise Services; and Wellness Services) in Calgary and the Bow Valley Corridor for persons with disabilities so they may reach their fullest potential and benefit from the highest possible quality of life.

Vecova is seeking a dedicated and seasoned fund development leader to assume the role of Director of Development. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Development will guide the development of philanthropic culture across the organization. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, implement, and manage a comprehensive fund development program which includes, direct mail, special events, major gifts
  • support to a major capital campaign particularly in the area of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a communications team

The ideal candidate

  • Seven years of successful fund development experience at a senior level along with a proven fundraising track record
  • Experience with capital campaigns and developing a multi‐stream fund development program
  • Be a results‐oriented team player with the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholder audiences and possess exceptional leadership qualities
  • Have excellent planning, budgeting, analytic, organizational abilities and ability to utilize technological tools to support fundraising including database management and analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, integrity, high energy, creativity, and a collaborative spirit are essential qualities for this role
  • CFRE designation an asset.
