Functional Statement:

This position will focus on collaborating with various communities, such as schools, to support the settlement and integration of new Canadian youth. This will be done by building youth’s capacity, through the promotion of volunteerism, diversity education, and the mobilization of resources to eliminate barriers to inclusion.


This position is a part of the RIS Youth and Children’s Programs, whose staff collaborate closely to run all the activities for youth and children in the Resettlement and Integration Services division.

While this position is a part of the collective RIS Youth and Children’s programs, the successful applicant is primarily responsible for all aspects of the Youth Connections program including, but not limited to:

  • Liaising with partner schools, community organizations and other CCIS programs
  • Recruiting, retaining and empowering youth through school-based and extracurricular activities
  • Planning and implementing innovative, effective and engaging programming for youth
  • Delivering diversity workshops for youth, and adults who work with youth, to build cross-cultural understanding and inclusion
  • Evaluation and Reporting
  • Other settlement and integration tasks as needed by RIS management


  • Degree in Education, Social Work or related field
  • Knowledge of settlement processes is an asset
  • Experience, passion and capability to meaningfully support, engage and empower youth
  • Ability to create opportunities to build and enhance youth’s capacity through substantive leadership roles, training etc.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team, in a diverse work environment and with relevant stakeholders
  • Must have knowledge of, and experience with, cultural diversity
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with coworkers, partners and youth
  • Must have extremely strong communication skills – written, verbal, and computer
  • Must be responsible, highly organized and proactive
  • Must be flexible and collaborative
  • Must take initiative and be self-motivated
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills


The successful applicant must be positive, energetic, passionate about working with youth and newcomers, and must be able to work in a dynamic work environment, problem solve, think creatively and learn quickly.

This is a part-time position (20 hours per week), and may require work on evenings and weekends.

Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
