Who We Are

The Alberta Council of Disability Services (ACDS) is a not-for-profit, provincial, umbrella association of organizations that support people with developmental disabilities, brain injury or complex needs. Our goal is to ensure quality service delivery in the Community Disability Services (CDS) sector. Member support is provided through policy advocacy, training and development, accreditation, research, and building connections within and across the CDS sector.  We are a highly respected conduit of information and collaboration between the government and member organizations.

What We Are Seeking

An individual with a passion for adult education in the Human Service Sector to support the implementation and follow-up of our online and face to face  training and development programs, workshops, projects and conferences. Located in Calgary or Edmonton, this position will be responsible for the coordination and monitoring of our core programs; and the coordination of ACDS conference and workshops across Alberta.

This full-time position, will appeal to a highly organized, deadline-driven professional with an aptitude for curriculum development, and the use of new technologies for adult education and training. The ideal candidate will be one who can build relationships, facilitate the movement of learners through the programs, and work with little supervision while supporting multiple projects in a fast paced, non-profit environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the administrative tasks of all ACDS training programs, conference and events.
  • Responsible for the technical and logistical elements of online training programs, troubleshooting and acting as key contact for learners and agencies.
  • Carry out event planning, coordination and evaluation of workshops and programs.
  • Act as the first point of contact for vendors of training events and learning materials, screening and negotiating pricing and contracts as required.
  • Recruit and select contractors and volunteers for projects in consultation with the Director.
  • Provide input to the development and enhancement of educational offerings in the disability sector.
  • Attend training and workshops as required.
  • Respond to user inquiries, register learners, and monitor and support the progress of learners, tutors, mentors and online facilitators.
  • Maintain and update a training database, and provide outcome statistics and reports as required.
  • Identify, source and coordinate relevant training and education opportunities, and ensure their effective delivery; manage event budget.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

 

  • University degree or diploma in related disciplines, with 2 - 5 years of experience, preferably in a non-profit environment. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Solid time management, organizational, and event coordinating skills.
  • Able to use sound judgement and customer service skills to address training requests and other requests for assistance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language, with attention to detail. Experience in public speaking and group facilitation will be a strong asset.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities, and complete tasks accurately to exceptionally high standards within set timelines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office products including Access, Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with Moodle or other Learning Management System, data management or membership management system, and video-editing will be an asset.
  • Able to work respectfully in a diverse team environment, share expertise and knowledge, contribute to sound decision-making across professional and operational boundaries, and willing to support organizational activities and priorities.
  • Flexible to travel for occasional out-of-town engagements, and work occasional evenings for events.

 

This is a full-time position located in Calgary or Edmonton.
