Team Lead/Supervisor

Reporting to the Program Director, the Team Lead will have strong supervisory skills and excellent knowledge of client groups and issues related to the program area of addictions, abuse, mental health and harm reduction.  A thorough understanding of the issue of addictions as it relates to women is an asset.

The Team Lead performs a wide range of duties including:

  • Managing intake and admissions into Alcove program including responding to requests for services and information, conduct pre-admission screening, interview prospective clients and communicate acceptance or lack thereof to the candidate
  • Enhancing the skill of front line staff through the provision on-going supervision and support of client cases 
  • Responsible for efficient and effective case management including oversight of client goal setting, progress and achievement thereof and, 
  • Ensure the completion of administrative duties such as ensuring that program information and client records are maintained in an accurate and professional manner and, monitoring accurate and timely data entry in Alcove database 
  • Role model professionalism, leadership and commitment to the organization and its clients

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 Education/Certification:

  • University degree in Social Work, Psychology or related Human Services Field
  • Professional Association registration
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST)

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Strong ability to supervise employees in basic social work skills
  • Strong counselling and crisis intervention skills
  • Strong ability to build solid, healthy teams and positive atmosphere
  • Knowledge and understanding of all pertinent legislation and policies including the Mental Health Act, the Child and Family Service Act, the Adoption Act, the Federal and Territorial Criminal Code and all other relevant legislation and Acts

Experience  

  • 3 to 5 years supervisory experience in a related field

The Team Lead works a flexible 40 hour weekly schedule that meets the needs of the clients and the front line team. Some evenings and weekend shifts will be required.
