Support Worker

Trinity Place Foundation of Alberta is seeking a Support Worker to work at our supportive living facility Peter Coyle Place.  We have 1 full time position available and 1 6-month contract position that will start in November with the possibility of extension.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Support Worker is responsible for assisting tenants with the activities of daily living. 

The primary goal of this amazing opportunity is to promote and advocate for the mental, emotional and physical well being of each resident and to facilitate their independence within a harm reduction model.

About Peter Coyle Place

Peter Coyle Place, is a 70-unit specialized supportive living facility, for residents who have in the past experienced substandard housing and/or chronic homelessness due to physical, mental and/or emotional factors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide for emotional and physical comfort and safety of tenants with respect and compassion
  • Respect tenant rights including confidentiality of tenant information.
  • Assist tenants with the task of daily living
  • Perform intake paperwork for new tenants
  • Update and maintain tenant records including filing
  • Implement conflict management when necessary
  • Provide our tenants with a high standard of efficient, polite, helpful and knowledgeable service

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma

Experience

  • Post secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience with seniors an asset
  • First Aid is required
  • Experience in working with persons with mental illness and/or addictions

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and role model
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in an effective and efficient manner
  • Supervise and participate in the shift exchange procedures as required
  • Ability to work as a team and individually
  • Flexibility and versatility in a constantly changing environment

Please note that these positions consist of 10 hour shifts working modified work schedules.  Night shifts may be required after the sucessful candidate has completed their probationary period.
