Stepping Stone Manor – Direct Client Support

The Agency

The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a community-based charitable organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of crime and increasing community safety through preventative and restorative justice practices. To accomplish these ends, we provide direct services to individuals at risk, advocacy for effective responses to crime with the individuals involved and education for youth and adults in the community.

 

The Program

Stepping Stone Manor is a 29-unit residential housing program that provides place based housing and intensive supports to individuals above the age of 18 who are chronically homeless and are frequent users of emergency, health, correctional and shelter services. The program offers 24/7 on-site, dual staffed client support.

 

The Position

Staff work with the client support team on site at Stepping Stone Manor. Reporting to the Team Lead, Direct Client Support staff practice client-centered case management, build supportive community relationships and work on-site according to shift schedule.

 

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

· Supporting clients in maintaining housing and integrating into the community;

· Connecting clients to appropriate services and support attendance at relevant appointments;

· Assist with activities of daily living;

· Strength-based coaching and service planning;

· Building community;

· Complete casework documentation, do data collection and report outcomes.

 Successful candidates will have a post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e. human services, social work, etc.) and 3 years of experience working with the target population. Knowledge and experience of harm reduction, housing first, case management, FASD and indigenous culture is a strong asset.

 This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position.
