About Sagesse

For more than 30 years, Sagesse has empowered individuals, organizations and communities to break the cycle of violence by curating environments to heal and develop skills to lead safe, healthy lives. We work in more than 50 communities across Alberta – either directly providing service or partnering with agencies who help deliver our programs. Our work falls into three categories; direct service programs, capacity building and education and advocacy:

  •  Peer support groups and mentorship for women who have experienced domestic violence, are at risk of being abused, or women that have been involved in sex work.
  • Capacity-building workshops to other organizations about the experience of domestic violence within LGBTQ2S+ communities.
  • Education to informal support networks about how to recognize domestic violence, respond (based on the situation), and refer to the appropriate supports (Stand By Program).
  • The backbone agency for the Calgary Domestic Violence Collective (CDVC) and the Provincial Collective Impact Initiative (PCII); collaborative community responses to support individuals, families and societies to live free of domestic violence.

Our philosophy is to engage in curious, fierce conversations and collaborations and we see this as a path to disrupting the structures of violence in our communities. We are seeking a Stand By Program Associate to join our Community Development team. The position requires a curious worker with strong facilitation and community engagement skills. • Thrives as a member of a collaborative, fast paced program team
  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work, or equivalent experience
