Sr. Coordinator Community & Neighbourhood Services

Main responsibilities:
Provide level II professional level expertise and workflow coordination in the implementation, monitoring, and
continuous improvement of:
o Oversight and supervision of Community and Neighbourhood Services Coordinators and the Community
Outreach Worker
o Program evaluation and reporting e.g., work with staff team to develop comprehensive program logic models
and accompanying outcomes measurement plans, data collection tools and evaluation practices including
mechanisms for continuous improvement.
o Development and coordination of community education and training programs e.g., organize, develop,
promote and present learning opportunities, coordinate non-profit sector training, and community education
programs (such as CES, suicide information training, leadership training, community helpers etc.)
o Program planning, development and implementation of outreach to the community e.g., provide information
and referral to residents of the service area; oversee the planning, development and implementation of FCSS
programs and services in SE Rocky View County,
o Outreach to the community as a liaison with organizations and community groups, e.g., liaise with other
organizations and community groups through participation in Interagency meetings, community events, focus
groups and committee meetings throughout the service area; share and collect information from these
community groups and act as a representative of Community Services and FCSS.
o Volunteer Coordination e.g., maintain an active membership with Propellus and Volunteer Alberta, leverage
memberships to provide timely training and support to grant recipients and other service providers, build and
maintain an internal database of annual volunteers, recruit volunteers to serve on Emergency Social Services
(ESS) team, field incoming volunteer inquiries by matching to internal opportunities or making referrals to
available services, develop and maintain recruitment, onboarding, training, reporting and recognition
processes for department Volunteers and coordinate the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event.
o Supervision of grant recipients e.g., act as a City Liaison to local community groups with respect to Grant
Funding opportunities, host information sessions and field inquiries regarding eligibility and application
processes; receive and monitor scheduled reports and performance on outcomes, and provide consultative
support and training with respect to evaluation, outcomes measurement, and reporting, including program
logic model development.
o Emergency Social Services (ESS) planning and community awareness e.g., ensure updates and
coordination of the Emergency Social Services Plan in conjunction with ESS Director(s). Coordinate training
and exercises in ESS twice a year. Participate in regional and provincial ESS related networking.
Participate in the assessment of the current and future needs of the CSD team, gathering input and feedback, utilizing
evaluation tools, analyzing and reporting statistical and evaluative data.
Participate in networking and facilitate partnerships with subject matter experts and service providers, e.g., peers in
other municipalities, consultants, and maintain an awareness of best practices and opportunities.
Represent CSD internally, e.g., undertake studies and provide recommendations regarding the feasibility of policies,
projects and services as required from time to time

Participate in the enhancement and implementation of City and Department Policies and Procedures within
legislative, regulatory requirements and best practices, e.g., FCSS Act and Regulation, City of Chestermere’s Social
Plan.
As required, represent Family and Community Services on a variety of professional associations and organizations,
e.g., attend relevant training opportunities, conferences and meetings and share the acquired information.
As required, support negotiations, contracts and agreements with service providers and partners.
Provide assistance to the Assistant Director (CSD) on sensitive issues. Participate as a member of the Chestermere
Emergency Response / Emergency Social Services team in preparing and enabling the community to respond in the
event of a local disaster or regional disaster.
