Who we are:

Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta is a non-profit organization that brings the local community together to help build strength, stability and independence for Alberta families through affordable home ownership. We help working families enter the housing market in starter homes within family friendly communities. Habitat has been doing this in Calgary and Southern Alberta and for more than 25 years. Since 1990, we have partnered with more than 250 families across southern Alberta, affecting the lives of more than 600 children.

Our affordable homeownership program is designed for working families with children struggling with high rents and the instability of rental market conditions. We empower these families by providing a hand-up, not a hand-out. Habitat homes are sold to them with no down-payment, no-interest mortgages.

Our construction program currently builds between 20 and 25 new high-quality starter homes a year for families to purchase. We build our homes using donations of funding and materials, employing a mix of contractors and suppliers as well as many volunteers on our build sites. We have built in more than 30 communities in Calgary and across Southern Alberta.

We also manage the largest ReStore retail operation in Canada generating more than $3 million in sales.
