Social Worker

The Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta is a collaborative partner with community agencies/ organizations in advocating on behalf of persons with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. We are a leader in delivering programs and services, educating, and providing information on treatment and resources relating to cerebral palsy in the province of Alberta.


The Social Worker: This position is responsible for intake coordination, assessment of new clients, building a supportive relationship with each client and their families/guardians, caregivers, and utilize a client centered approach to guide clients through their options.  Empathy, combined with a genuine desire to improve the quality of the lives of persons with disabilities is essential. We are looking for a social worker in Calgary to act as advocate and help persons with disabilities foster their capacities and coping mechanisms to improve and add value to their daily lives and experiences. In addition, initiative, resiliency, the ability to be practical and flexible, good observational skills, and being great listener are fundamental for this position.

  • Flexible, good organizational skills to work autonomously and plan for a caseload of clients
  • Ability to adapt to new roles, tasks, and situations
  • Initiative, strong observation, analytical, problem solving, and listening skills
  • The ability to negotiate, mediate, and interpret on behalf of clients/families/guardians


  • Conduct interviews with individuals and families to assess needs
  • Undertaking and writing up assessments (sometimes in collaboration with other professionals), which meet specified standards and timescales
  • Providing information and support
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and meeting
  • Liaise and making referrals in the community


  • Registered Social Worker in Alberta
  • Experience with intake, service coordination and/or scheduling processes
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to organize & prioritize work, and manage multiple projects
