Sexual Violence Therapist

Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) is the primary sexual violence service provider for Calgary and surrounding areas. We are looking for experienced and innovative individuals to be part of our dynamic team and organization. CCASA is excited to announce that due to additional funding from the Government of Alberta, we are currently looking to hire a sexual violence therapist.



Responsibilities of the therapist include:

  • Providing trauma specialized counselling to individuals impacted by sexual violence
  • Group counselling
  • Completing comprehensive needs and risk assessments 
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Completing required documentation in a timely manner
  • Advocacy for clients as needed
  • Providing support and crisis intervention to individuals accessing the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART)


*Successful candidates will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends and may be needed to provide counselling to rural areas surrounding Calgary.


The successful applicants will have the following qualifications:


  • A degree in social/human services with a minimum of two to three years related work experience; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience providing individual counselling, including maintaining a clinical caseload
  • Possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence
  • Understanding of biopsychosocial causes and impacts of trauma
  • Experience with crisis intervention
  • Strong assessment and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with the effects of sexual violence on individuals and communities
  • The ability to collaborate with various community and professional services
  • Professional registration
