Program Development Associate (Summer Position)-AMENDED

Position Summary

The Program Development Associate will be responsible for supporting program planning and implementation within the Programs Unit. The incumbent will support the Program Coordinators in the delivery of program activities, realization of program outcomes and outputs as well as filling in the gaps in community engagement activities. This position requires occasional flexible time commitment.

This position is funded by the Government of Canada under the Summer Jobs Grant Program.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Program Coordinators, will assist in the development of short and long term plans for the programs
  • Assist the Coordinators in generating “evidence based” data for program activities and help to meet desired outcomes and output
  •  Assist with community engagement activities and ensure desired outreach plan is attained
  • Ensure database(s) maintenance which include(s) participant and prospect information and mailing list
  • Work with programs support to organize and establish meetings on a regular basis with designated individuals to foster positive relationships
  • Process expense reports and cheque requests
  • Assist with a development of a Program Unit calendar for program activities and submit information to be put on the website
  • Support  goals to increase community awareness and participation
  • Assist with capturing stories from various community members to support the work of the organization
  • Assist with research and policy work

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year post-secondary education in the Humanities/Social work
  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to community development
  • Must have strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build relationships and engage participation of community members in community development work
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must be highly organized and able to work well with others
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer application and database management
  • Able to work flexible hours

 To be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • The students must have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year
  • The student must be registered as a full-time student for next academic year
  • The student must be between 15 to 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, new immigrants or refugee
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislations and regulations
  • Foreign students are not eligible

The successful candidate will be guaranteed 8 weeks of employment based on a 37.5 hours/week during the summer period (June 01, 2018 – August 31, 2018)
