Position Title: Program Coordinator, SHARE (Sustaining Healthy and Awesome Relationships)

Reports To: Programs and Policy Manager

Direct Reports: Community Brokers

Position Summary:

This position will oversee SHARE or Sustaining Healthy and Awesome RElationships Program. SHARE Program Coordinator will apply community development principles and approaches in the implementation, evaluation and further development of SHARE. This position is directly accountable to the Programs and Policy Manager. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week that comes with a benefit package and requires occasional flexible time commitment.

SHARE is a community-based primary prevention initiative that seeks to promote alternative strategies to address the root causes of domestic violence through collaboration with ethno-cultural communities and the Calgary community. SHARE trains and supports Community Brokers in engaging the ethno-cultural communities with the aim of co-designing non- programmatic domestic violence prevention strategies with ethno-cultural community leaders and members.

SHARE recognizes the important roles played by natural supports in community-led domestic violence prevention initiatives hence it invests in enhancing and building the capacity of the peer supports, role models and mentors in the ethno-cultural communities.

SHARE will collaborate with various stakeholders, including service providers, public institutions, academe, businesses and key leaders in addressing the systemic, structural and cultural roots of domestic violence.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Calgary Domestic Violence Collective (CDVC) particularly CDVC subcommittee – the Ethno-Culturally Diverse Communities (ECDC) subcommittee to ensure and encourage culturally relevant programming by domestic violence service providers and related public institutions.

• Work with various ActionDignity program Coordinators to identify collaborative functions and develop mechanisms to work as a team. • Organize and direct the SHARE Brokers in implementing SHARE program and ActionDignity activities.

• Work in partnership with North East Domestic Violence Prevention Collaborative (NEDVPC) based in Calgary North East to further enrich its community-led initiatives using a community development approach in prevention.

• Further develop and implement SHARE using a strong community development approach, and in accordance with the SHARE Theory of Change and ActionDignity strategic direction.

• Conduct or participate in community-based participatory action research that tests, explores and supports effective and emerging practices in primary prevention of domestic violence in ethno-cultural communities including but not limited to men’s engagement.

• Foster coalition and networks with mental health sectors, addictions (fentanyl) working groups and allies (indigenous community, all abilities, LGBTQ+s, women’s groups, faith groups, etc.) and support engagement strategies that promote healthy relationships particularly in ethno-cultural communities.

• Write regular reports, develop related proposals, conduct periodic evaluation, enrich the outcome measurement framework, and fulfill all other related tasks.

• Implement other tasks and participate in organization and staff activities as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years experience as coordinator in programs using participatory and innovative community development approaches in training, research, organizing, recruitment and mobilization.

• Strong grasp of the concept of primary prevention of domestic violence, experience in ad-dressing these through community action, and knowledge of related policies and laws in domestic violence, family law and related areas such as immigration.

• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated skills and ability to work effectively with cross-cultural groups.

• Solid foundational understanding of community development principles and practice.

• Minimum of college or university undergraduate degree in community development, social work, social sciences or related field.

• Strong program management and facilitation skills and knowledge of theory of change framework.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of a second language other than English an asset.

• Excellent team player and works well independently
