Program Coordinator

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Calgary and Southern Alberta.  With over 35 years of solid community experience, 70 active programs, and comprehensive wraparound support, CCIS ensures that our services respond to the needs of ethnically diverse communities within Calgary and area.

CCIS, in partnership with Children’s Services, operates a Parent Link Family Resource Centre with the overall objective to promote the healthy development of newcomer children and facilitate the positive integration of newcomer families into the Community.  To achieve this, CCIS is recruiting for the following position:

Name of Position: Program Coordinator

Reports To: Manager of Family and Children’s Services

Terms of Employment: Full Time – 40 hours/week

Program Description: The Parent Link Family Resource Centre operates on a holistic, supportive, strength based model that assists new immigrant families and individuals in need.  The Centre has an open door policy to all, but specializes in the services to immigrant families and culturally positive parenting.  The Centre offers a range of social, educational, and recreational programs and activities for families and individuals in a variety of languages.  Along with basic needs services, the Centre also offers services to support positive family interactions and to increase and provide knowledge of community resources.


  • Facilitate program development and delivery in accordance with funding requirements and within budget constraints
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to a team of 7 Family Support Counselors
  • Support, develop, design, and evaluate new programs based on client and community need
  • Work effectively with fellow Coordinators to ensure holistic and enhanced programming
  • Collaborate with Funders and Community Partners for effective service delivery
  • Actively participate in the evaluation of the program
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate effective and efficient strategies associated with service delivery
  • Contribute to the creation of an inclusive work environment through effective communication and positive relationships
  • Support the objectives of the Family and Children’s Services division through cooperative interaction with fellow staff
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with complimentary community based services
  • Ensure continuous growth and professional development through research, conferences, and workshops
  • Some travel required within the Province due to participation in the Provincial Parent Link Network


  • University degree in the social sciences/humanities. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 3 – 5 years of supervisory experiences
  • Extensive experience working with diverse populations and or newcomer families
  • Knowledge of community resources, programs, and services available to newcomer and low income families
  • Working knowledge of the settlement and integration process
  • Demonstrated competence in staff supervision and leadership
  • Understanding and appreciation of the complex needs of diverse populations
  • Highly developed communication, documentation and facilitation skills
  • Experience and ability to collaborate effectively with the Community
  • Familiar with the counseling process
  • Excellent organization skills and self-starting tendencies
  • Advanced technological skills
  • Preference will be given to candidates that speak a second language
  • Preference will be given to candidates familiar with Triple P and/or Culturally Positive Parenting experience
  • As travel is required the successful candidate must have a vehicle
