MSW Outreach Counsellor for Men Impacted by Violence

We are looking for an innovative counsellor with strong networking skills to assume the Male Outreach Counsellor position. This position provides a great opportunity for increasing awareness of violence towards men through the provision of effective outreach, support, advocacy and counselling services to men who are experiencing domestic abuse and building and expanding relationships with community partners.

This role requires a self-starter with an entrepreneurial flair.  Although much of the role operates autonomously, it functions as part of the counselling team and initiatives of the Centre. Participation on a variety of committees in the cultural, men’s services and domestic violence communities, form part of the foundation of this role.

Qualifications: 

Candidates must hold a Master's Degree and be registered with their College. Preference will be given to individuals with at least 2-3 years clinical experience working with men impacted by family violence, trauma and crisis work. Knowledge of Calgary and area family violence services agencies is an asset as is an ability to work across a variety of settings and organizations. An ability to provide service in a language in addition to English is an asset.

Successful candidates will have the following competencies: An ability to work both independently and in a team environment, attention to detail; excellent organizational time management skills; excellent computer skills, ability to think and act systemically; personal flexibility; and excellent communication skills. Candidates must have a reliable vehicle.
