Member Services Representative (Summer Position)

Position Summary

The Member Services Representative provides support and services to Action Dignity’s Ethno-cultural membership organizations. The incumbent will respond to inquiries, requests, complaints, process payment of membership dues and issue receipts, process new membership applications and maintain a database for membership organizations. This position requires occasional flexible time commitment.

This position is funded by the Government of Canada under the Canada Summer Jobs Program.


  • Take calls or greet members in-person to respond to their needs and concerns
  • Deliver high-quality customer service, listening to members’ requests and working to find the appropriate solution. Will transfer members to the appropriate office, or assist themselves
  • When faced with member complaints, will work to provide a solution by interacting with internal resources to identify the issue, respond to concerns and follow up with a satisfactory resolution in a timely and affective manner.
  • Will process all membership dues and donations
  • Will provide member organizations with community hub administrative services and use of meeting rooms
  • Assist with the evaluation of membership relationships
  • Establish new memberships to interested organizations/associations/groups that fall within Action Dignity’s targeted population
  • Forward all membership applications and present them to the Membership Services Committee for approval; review all applications for completeness
  • Continue to enhance the value and benefits of Action Dignity’s membership organizations
  • Under the guidance of a supervisor, will conduct an annual survey of Action Dignity’s membership services and collate responses for analysis and reporting
  • Will meet with representatives of inactive membership accounts and resuscitate them
  • Facilitate quarterly meetings with membership organizations and participation of community representatives in systems and policy work
  • Assist with CASINO funds drive event


  • Minimum of one year post-secondary education in business administration
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills to accurately respond to inquiries and requests
  • Ability to compute basic arithmetic and work with numbers
  • Basic personal computer skills
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Patient and friendly, has excellent people skills and enjoys solving problems.
  • Able to remain positive composed, and work well under pressure


• Clean driver’s license

• An understanding of and experience working with ethno-cultural communities

To be eligible as a participant under the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • The students must have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year
  • The student must be registered as a full-time student for next academic year
  • The student must be between 15 to 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, new immigrants or refugee
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislations and regulations
  • Foreign students are not eligible

The successful candidate will be guaranteed 8 weeks of employment based on a 37.5 hours/week during the summer period (June 01, 2018 – August 31, 2018).
