Position Title: Manager – Aventa Phase II Program – Full Time Position

Reports to : Executive Director

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

Master’s degree in psychology, counselling, social work or related discipline. Registration with the corresponding professional regulatory agency would be considered an asset: (Alberta College of Psychologists, Alberta College of Social Workers, etc.) • Minimum of 2 years direct leadership/management experience in health care or social services. • Therapeutic group experience is essential. •  Strong leadership skills, conflict resolution, and people management skills.• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Function: The Program Manager leads the client service team in  the delivery of group and individual counselling program by providing strong leadership, therapeutic, supervisory and administrative direction and support.  


Therapeutic – Ensures the overall quality of therapeutic service to clients of Aventa. • Oversees the planning and development of programs and services in line with Aventa’s mission and values, therapeutic framework, clinical guidelines, and Strategic Plan. • Continuously monitor and seek to improve the quality of treatment services and overall client experience.• Ensure the consistent and intentional application of theory, knowledge and skills congruent with Aventa’s philosophy, framework, and direction.• Provide therapeutic consultation to ensure that interventions with respect to mental health issues, group themes, dynamics and other risk factors are properly integrated with group therapy and addiction treatment services. • Monitor client outcomes and use data to inform and improve service to clients. • Research current literature and benchmarks to ensure understanding of evidence-based practice in the field of addictions. • Provide direct support to Phase II Addiction Counsellors by attending group and individual therapy sessions and supporting the development of client treatment plans. Provide direction,  support,  and supervision to Aventa’s  Intake and Assessment Team.  

Supervisory – Participate actively in supervision. Provide direct supervision of Phase II Counsellors and overall supervision of client programs and services. • Participate actively in supervision with Aventa’s Clinical Supervisor, Staff, and Executive Director. • Meet regularly with Executive Director, Clinical Supervisor, and Management Team to ensure effective communication and management of therapeutic practice, administration of programs, Staff development, and management. • Oversee the development and evaluation of Addiction Counselling Staff through training, development, and performance management. • Ensure that programs practice accurate risk identification and effective risk management. • Foster the development and maintenance of a positive team environment.

Administration – Collaborate with the Executive Director, Clinical Supervisor and Management Team to oversee the administration of therapeutic programs and services offered by Aventa. • Actively participate as a member of the Aventa Management Team, ensuring effective communication regarding client services to the other members of the Management Team, and communication of Strategic Plan and planning to Staff. • Participate in the review and development of Aventa’s mission, vision, guiding principles, strategic planning, business planning and implementation as required by the Executive Director. • Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions to Aventa’s Policies and Procedures.• Ensure sufficient and appropriate recruitment, screening, orientation, training and performance evaluation of Staff. • Ensure proper monitoring, evaluation and reporting of client outcomes and statistics. Use information to inform and direct the quality improvement of client services.

We offer a treatment program for 18-24 year old young adults,  individualized support for adults suspected of or diagnosed with FASD, and immediate access for pregnant women.   Aventa provides 24 hour residential support, on site medical support, life skills, recreation and leisure activities, parenting, a Smoking Cessation Program, Aftercare Program, Family and Friends Program, advocacy and community referrals.
