United Way of Calgary and Area is the largest non-government source of funding for human care and community support programs in the Calgary region. United Way works with its community partners to build sustainable solutions for the future, while providing services today to improve lives of people when they need it most.

 

United Way of Calgary and Area is looking for a full-time Manager, Affinity Groups to join the Individual Giving & Investor Relations team. Reporting to the Team Manager, Individual Giving and Affinity Groups, the role of the Manager, Affinity Groups is to lead the Women’s Leadership Council and Gen Next programs to grow giving and build affinity for United Way. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to prospect, retain and grow gifts from individuals engaged through the affinity groups and is responsible for managing one direct report.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Align work of affinity groups with United Way goals and business plans.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor successful strategies to grow the Women’s Leadership Council and Gen Next programs.
  • Manage key donor and volunteer relationships.
  • Work with Resource Development colleagues to support and integrate affinity group offerings into workplace campaigns and Individual Giving to increase engagement with existing and prospective donors.
  • Plan and successfully execute various events and opportunities for Gen Next and the Women’s Leadership Council. Lead events to be a strategic driver of growth and revenue.
  • Support the successful development of marketing and communications materials to grow the donor and engagement programs.
  • Lead the Campaign Advisor, Affinity Groups by providing support, direction and assessment of performance.

 

Experience and Skills:

  • University Graduate in related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 2 - 5 years fundraising, marketing or similar type experience.
  • 1 - 3 years management experience.
  • Relationship management and/or sales experience considered an asset.
  • Experience working with volunteers in the public and/or private sector.
  • Flexible self-starter who works with minimal supervision and possesses strategic thinking and superior problem-solving skills with strong ownership of work.
  • Working knowledge and skill in an information management database as well as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Andar knowledge an asset.
  • Professional manner in dealing with people and providing exceptional customer service.
  • A talent for organizing people, paper and information.
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail in a very busy work environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Calm, focused dedication to excellence and performance.
