We are currently seeking someone who has a passion for working with youth. The Live-In Resident Worker will be responsible for providing support and general on-site supervision to pregnant and/or parenting youth, between the ages of 15-24, who require supported housing.

 The Live-In Worker’s duties include:

1. Keep accurate/up to date contact notes on each youth living in the home.

2. Communicate key issues/challenges regarding individual clients to other program   staff.

3. Promote life skills and parenting skills.

4. Conduct regular walkthroughs of youth’s living space.

5. Organize social events for the youth in the home throughout the month and support with educational sessions.

6. Communicate and reinforce program expectations clearly and transparently to the youth.

7. Respect the various cultural and heritage needs of the youth.

8. Recommend interventions and support unique needs identified by the case workers or program staff (i.e. medical support, urgent needs etc.).

9. Provide support and develop relationships with the youth and their families.

10. Ensure Trinity Place is maintained in a clean manner, with all maintenance and/or repairs reported to the

Trinity supervisor. Emergency evacuation drills must be done as per McMan policy with monthly evacuation drills, and maintenance of first aid kit.

11. Work with the staff team to support youth’s individual goals.

12. Model stable, responsible, consistent lifestyle and socially appropriate behavior for the youth.

As a Live-In Resident Worker, you will have your own bedroom with a shared bathroom, kitchen and living area. You will have direct contact with the case workers as well as support from other program staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants will have two years of related experience working with children /at risk youth and/or families.
  • A good knowledge of resources and youth services in the community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with youth.
  • Educational background and experience in Social Work or related field.
  • This role may require the use of your personal vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000.00 personal third party liability insurance coverage and a Driver’s Abstract.
  • A current Police Check and Child Intervention check are also required.

Hours:  The Resident Worker is required to be in the home and available overnight for 12 hours, 6 days per week (between 7pm and 9am), three out of six evenings from 6pm to 9pm, and four to six hours each weekend. Active engagement with the youth is required in the evenings and weekends. One day of relief is provided per week. This is a great opportunity for someone who works during the day or is in school and looking for evening and weekend work.

Salary Range: $30,984 annually. Please note there will be a rental taxable benefit that will be applied to your pay each month (rent and utilities are included).
