Supervisor: Calgary Program Manager


Location: Calgary, AB


This is a highly impactful, results-driven role focused on placing youth facing multiple barriers to employment into meaningful and rewarding IT-related jobs. This involves business development (cultivating hiring partnerships with new employers) and account management (sustaining and growing existing employer partnerships). The position includes a strong emphasis on relationship-building with both candidates and employers.


Ensure that at least 80% of NPower Canada alumni are employed and/or in education within six months of program completion.


Business Development

● Develop partnerships with employers who are strongly motivated to recruit more one or more graduates from the NPower Canada program for junior IT-related roles.

● To achieve target outcomes, conduct business development activities including referral-based lead generation, targeted in-person and online networking, social media engagement and other strategies.


Account Management

● Develop and implement strategies for building and maintaining effective relationships with supervisors of NPower Canada graduates.

● Deepen relationships with existing employers through appreciation events, corporate volunteer opportunities and ongoing consultations to explore new opportunities to help corporate partners achieve business outcomes.

● Consistently increase number of graduates hired by each employer after each cohort.


Client Success: Supporting Alumni and Employers

● Liaise between employers and alumni to ensure that placements are successful. 

● Act as first point of contact for inquiries from supervisors and candidates, providing timely support and proactively resolving concerns.

● Connect frequently with candidates and supervisors to ensure that expectations are being met, obtain updates and offer additional support as needed.

● Conduct supervisor quality checks and satisfaction surveys to obtain feedback and flag any issues for follow-up.

● Proactively triage with other team members to resolve more complex service challenges, keeping management informed and escalating when necessary.


Program Administration

● Ensure timely, accurate and comprehensive entry of case notes and related program data into Salesforce database, ensuring data integrity and security.

● Conduct quarterly surveys with graduates to track data related to employment status, career progression, further educational attainment and related metrics.


Candidate Requirements

● 2-3 years of experience in cultivating sustainable employment for opportunity youth.

● Post-secondary education in human resources, business, human services or a related area is preferred.

● Enthusiastic self-starter who perceives challenges as opportunities.

● Thrives on helping youth achieve their career goals and connecting employers with great talent.

● Familiarity with HR best practices regarding recruitment, onboarding and performance management.

● Highly agile and adaptable to changing environment.

● Exceptional communication and issue resolution skills; ability to navigate sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.

● Excellent time and task management and prioritization skills.

● Proven ability to build credible relationships and demonstrate good judgement

● Highly analytical and detail-oriented.

● Proficient in data management and reporting; experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM is an asset.

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through the preparation and delivery of written reports, presentations and sensitive communications with employers and participants.

● Can travel throughout the Calgary metropolitan area to meet with participants and employers as needed.
