Intake/Volunteer Team Lead

The role of Intake/Volunteer Team Lead involves two priorities: leading the Intake Call Centre and the volunteer program at Calgary Counselling Centre. The Lead ensures efficient and timely response to all intakes, and counselling inquiries, supervision of intake volunteers, and processing of all referrals.  The Lead is also responsible for championing Calgary Counselling Centre’s volunteer program and effectively recruiting, screening and integrating volunteers and ensuring that all those volunteering with CCC are committed to working in compliance with agency standards of service and will promote a culture of respect, integrity and confidentiality.

Essential Functions:

  • Schedule monthly volunteer intake shifts to ensure full coverage in the call centre
  • Support Counselling Leadership in the assignment of cases to counsellors
  • Work closely with Director of Counselling or designate on allocation of cases to counsellors
  • Answer external and internal inquiries and maintain statistics
  • Develop strong relationships with referring organizations
  • Maintain knowledge about external community organizations; attend relevant external intake community meetings
  • Maintain and expand the electronic intake process and support integration of new technology
  • Respond to all potential external program clients
  • Manage the intake component of clinical files
  • Work closely with all counsellors, interns and residents

Skill Requirements:

  • Possess a personal presence characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Calgary Counselling Centre
  • Proven ability to create partnerships with employees, volunteers, the community, and those we serve, that fosters an environment honoring individual preferences, choices and traditions
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills
  • Exhibits well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with ambiguity while maintaining a calm demeanor; proven time management and organizational skills
  • Must possess critical thinking skills combined with strong attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills – ability to embrace new IT systems, databases
  • Ability to make recommendation on identified trends; maintain statistics

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:

  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Social Work Diploma or BSW: with Registration with the College of Social Workers
  • Previous volunteer management experience required
  • Experience in working with service providers in a community-based setting
  • Experience and knowledge of social service principles and practices including intake and volunteer management
  • Must pass Police and Child Welfare checks
