Indigenous Cultural Connector

Pathways Community Services Association is an Indigenous agency that draws jointly from the strengths and guidance of Indigenous teachings and traditions and from evidence-based practices in human services to support vulnerable children, youth and families. We are seeking a Cultural Connector who will contribute to the work of our Cultural Team.

Our Cultural Team is guided by the wisdom of the Elders from many nations and we respect and honour these different influences. Our Cultural Connectors draw from their own strengths and interests, lived experiences, formal education, and traditional teachings to support the children, youth, and families of Pathways. We are an equal opportunity employer.

We seek someone who wants to work in a cultural team environment, contribute to healing and wellness, support land-based learning, and provide program development and delivery. We are open to the individual contributions the successful candidate will make and are not looking for someone with expertise in any one area. Please mention the specific areas in which you think you can make your best contributions in your cover letter.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a combination of post-secondary education and experience that has prepared them for this role
  • experience working with the Indigenous community and has some cultural knowledge and understanding
  • experience working with vulnerable children and families and/or community development initiatives
  • strong teamwork skills
  • is open and willing to work some evenings and weekends
  • is willing to do some physical labour, including working outside all year round
  • the drive to be a difference-maker, someone who will work hard for the community and earnestly wants to make a contribution
  • a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license

We invest significantly in learning and development opportunities for our staff. We provide a competitive salary, benefits package, and a Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan.

Please submit a cover letter and resume to [email protected] before January 21th, 2019. Please reference “Indigenous Cultural Connector” in the subject line.
