The Children's Cottage Society of Calgary provides crisis nursery, respite, shelter and community support programs for vulnerable children and their families. To achieve our vision of “Safe Children in Healthy Families”, we are looking for a motivated self-starter to join our organization as a Housing Educator in our HomeBridge Program. This exciting new position will incorporate aspects of client work with community engagement and education to support the work of ending family homelessness in Calgary.

The majority of the work completed in the HomeBridge program will take place in community agencies. The successful candidate will assist in developing and customizing training programs for a wide variety of community stakeholders, providing them with information and the required skills to support families in remaining in their own homes. This individual will also work directly with families when needed, providing support, assessment and resources to ensure families remain housed.

This positions schedule is a Monday to Friday 8:30 – 4:30, and may require working occasional evenings in order to meet the needs of our clients and community partners.

  • Assist the families to implement their immediate plan of action to reduce risk factors and help address their priority objectives. Coordinate with Alberta Works designated staff to help ensure that the goals set by them for families are also addressed.
  • Maintain client files and HMIS data system entries.
  • Be fully informed on the services and resources offered by Alberta Works; work with the Children’s Cottage Housing Locator to explore any available housing resources.
