Healthy Relationships Therapist (Relief)

The Relief Healthy Relationships Therapist is responsible for the delivery of the Healthy Relationships Program (HRP) with adolescents (ages 12 to 21) in school settings through the provision of group and individual counselling and the delivery of presentations on healthy relationships in the community.  This is a relief union position reporting to the Manager of Child, Youth & Family Counselling. Hours per week will vary between 3 to 17 hours.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Responsible for providing feedback informed therapeutic services to adolescents to support them in developing healthy relationships.
  • Provide group and individual counselling to program participants in accordance with the response-based approach.
  • Provide counselling and/or consultation support to adults who engage with youth (eg. parents, school personnel) as required.
  • Connect and build a strong relationships with partner schools to ensure that program referrals are appropriate, to monitor and optimize attendance, and to ensure the needs of the school population are met.
  • Complete intakes with adolescents referred to the program and make recommendations regarding program participation.
  • Access opportunities to promote the program and healthy relationships in school and the community and deliver presentations on healthy relationships as agreed upon with the program manager.


  • Masters of Counselling, Masters of Social Work, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with adolescents and families.
  • Previous experience with the delivery of the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter HRP or equivalent program required.
  • Experience and training in process group and individual counseling.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the response-based approach is an asset.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Feedback Informed Treatment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and set own priorities.
  • A second language is an asset.

Other Information:

  • Must have CPR, First Aid, and ASIST certification.
  • A criminal records search and an intervention record check are conditions of employment.
  • Must be registered with an associated professional body.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed).
  • In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
