About the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre:

The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre (SKCAC) is a Calgary based not-for -profit organization. The SKCAC works in collaboration with relevant partner agencies to best serve children and families who are involved in the investigation and treatment of child abuse. The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre is a physical site, where more than 115 professionals deal with the criminal investigation, child protection, medical and psychosocial needs of children, youth and families impacted by child abuse and maltreatment. The focus of work at the SKCAC is children and youth who have experienced sexual abuse and severe and complex physical abuse and neglect.

 

Position Summary: 

The Grant Manager is responsible for increasing annual revenue from government, corporations and foundations through the management, writing, and reporting of all project grants.  This is done in accordance with grant management processes and contractual requirements. The Grant Manager also works with Accounting to report on budgets and spending, and provides grant administration according to funder requirements.  This position will manage a comprehensive and diverse portfolio of current funders and will maintain and update the prospect pipeline. This position will create and maintain an annual grant management plan that reflects strategic priorities and an annual fundraising goal.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write high-quality communications for government, corporate and foundation funders at all stages of the development process including letters of intent, proposals, quarterly or mid-year and final reports
  • Manage the deadline-driven calendar of all development writing projects related to corporations and foundations, including: researching and logging grant and reporting guidelines and due dates, submitting materials on time, and following up as necessary
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process
  • Perform relevant research to identify available grant opportunities
  • Oversee if the grants are implemented according to the operational and financial needs of the organization
  • Keep the relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables
  • Perform relevant data analysis to support the funding reporting requirements for each funder including: qualitative and quantitative analysis, management of data collection tools (e.g., databases)
  • Prepare financial or budget plans and allocation with Accounting in accordance with each requirement
  • Complete project evaluations in accordance with the grant requirements
  • Provide detailed reports to the funders and the board of directors with respect to the organization's progress as required
  • Monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with grant-funded programs

 

Required/Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree in finance, accounting, business or public administration
  • 3 – 5 years of experience grant writing and managing a grant portfolio
  • Must successfully complete a security clearance check
  • Critical thinker who displays strong judgment in prioritizing problems to solve and opportunities to pursue
  • Possess research skills, particularly related to data analysis and data management
  • Success at cultivating strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders: staff members, current and potential donors, and foundation leaders
  • Excellent project management skills with experience in managing and supervising administrative projects
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills
  • Strong command over written and verbal communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Good understanding of the organization's overall business and its objectives
  • Possesses good knowledge of planning and strategizing financial and budgeting issues
  • Experience with basic financial management skills including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting
  • A multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and produce quality results on time with attention to detail

 

Wage/Salary:

Position Type / Duration:

Full Time, 38.75 hours/week

 

This is a 6-month contract with the option to renew.
