About the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre:

The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre (SKCAC) is a Calgary based not-for -profit organization. The SKCAC works in collaboration with relevant partner agencies to best serve children and families who are involved in the investigation and treatment of child abuse. The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre is a physical site, where more than 115 professionals deal with the criminal investigation, child protection, medical and psychosocial needs of children, youth and families impacted by child abuse and maltreatment. The focus of work at the SKCAC is children and youth who have experienced sexual abuse and severe and complex physical abuse and neglect.

The opportunity:

The primary role of the Fund Development Coordinator is to provide administrative and database support to the Fund Development Director and the Fund Development team. This individual is responsible for collaborating on various fundraising communications, stewardship, and events related to activities in support of the SKCAC’s fund development objectives. 

What do you need to succeed? 

You’ll need to have:

  • Related post secondary degree or diploma preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years experience in an administrative role.
  •  Interest and passion for philanthropy and charitable giving.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and inter-personal communication skills and an ability to work cooperatively in a collaborative work environment.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be extremely organized with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge Database is a must.
  • Experience working in a social services agency or non-profit is an asset.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License, access to and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of extremely sensitive and private data.
  • Great multi-tasking skills.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to perform tasks with a great degree of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

What will you be doing? 

You will be working on things like:

  • Providing administrative assistance to the Fund Development Director.
  • Coordinating logistics for fundraising events, special projects and third party fundraising events as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate records in the development database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Entering donor contacts and coordinating database information to track meetings and prospects.
  • Creating and maintaining administrative procedure documents and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Recruiting, scheduling, and ensuring a positive experience for volunteers.
  • Assisting with tracking and execution of community and third party events.
  • Acting as the initial point of contact for all enquiries concerning community and events fundraising via telephone, email and post
  • Supporting Fund Development team members with signature and third party event details
  • Responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Building relationships and working with internal SKCAC staff members.
  • Drafting email and other correspondence, internal memos, and briefings.
  • Developing and maintaining written procedures, dashboards, and calendars.
  • Coordinating group meetings and special events for the development team.
  • Creating marketing packets and maintaining general collateral material for the department.
  • Preparing presentations and necessary supporting documentation for internal and external meetings.
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and following up on meetings for the development department as required.
  • Processing expenses, tracking and reconciling budget.
  • Providing support on various department-wide initiatives and supporting other Administrative Assistants within the organization as required and requested.
  • Contributing to the work of the broader team
  • Participating and when appropriate, attending events to establish increased visibility for the SKCAC
