Full Time Janitor

Trinity Place Foundation of Alberta is seeking a Janitor in Calgary, with some experience or understanding of the work involved in the not-for-profit senior sector. The successful candidate will work primarily in our Kiwanis Manors and Parkview Village.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Building Manager, the Janitor is responsible for the overall cleanliness and safety of the buildings in which they will work. This job requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals as directed.

These supports may include helping residents get the financial aid they’re entitled to, providing grief support or linking them with community resources. Key Responsibilities

Common Areas

  • Clean and disinfect washroom facilities
  • Ensure cleanliness of all common areas, offices, elevator, stairwells and flooring
    • Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting
  • Washing of windows, interior walls, handrails and doors
  • Clean and disinfect all dining area tables and chairs
  • Removal of garbage and litter picking around buildings and grounds


  • Cleaning of vacant units as required and directed by the building manager
  • Actively participate in various committees and training sessions
  • Order chemical and paper products as required, maintaining inventory controls
  • Actively participate and promote the Health and Safety Program
  • Ensure equipment is kept in good working order



  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • WHMIS (Workplace Hazards Management Information System) certificate


  • 1-2 years janitorial (prior experience in a senior living facility considered an asset)
  • Current first aid certificate

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lift heaving objects (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Fluent English (written and verbal)
  • Experience working with corrosive and non-corrosive chemicals
  • Accept responsibility and manage crises effectively
  • Flexibility and versatility in a constantly changing environment
  • Receptive understanding of individual needs/abilities and a genuine concern for all people

This position requires travel between properties. A valid license and reliable transportation is required.
