The Students’ Association of Mount Royal University (SAMRU) represents and serves students to help them succeed. SAMRU is seeking knowledgeable and skilled restaurant management staff for SAMRU’s campus pub and restaurant, The Hub. We are looking for applicants focussed on patron safety and satisfaction, who possess a talent for coaching and motivating staff. The Front-of-House Coordinator reports to the Food & Beverage Manager, and works with the Food & Beverage Manager and the Kitchen Coordinator as the Hub and SAMRU’s food and beverage team. Regular duties include direct staff supervision, customer outreach, establishing and building effective procedures, as well as a positive staff culture.



The successful candidate will have the following experience and credentials:


  • Alcohol and food service industry experience;
  • Supervisory, coaching and training experience;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage conflict;
  • Excellent judgment;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • ProServe and ProTect certification;
  • The ability to work well as part of the service team and within the larger organization;
  • Excellent cash handling and basic math skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; and
  • Some experience with non-profit organizations would be an asset but is not mandatory.


This is a full-time, permanent position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. The starting salary is $40,500 per year. The Students’ Association also offers many additional monetary and non-monetary benefits to its employees. Following a successful three month probationary period, employees are entitled to health and dental insurance benefits at no cost as 100% of the premiums are covered by the organization. Employees also enjoy a progressive, 35 hour work week and a policy on flex time which allows employees to bank time during peak periods and “flex-off” during slow ones. Our annual holiday closure in December is one week and starting vacation entitlement is fifteen days, increasing with seniority to a total of 25 days per year. There is no management tip out in this role.
