Permanent Part Time

Hours or days of work: 24 hours/week, 0.6 FTE

Reports to: Controller


  • Minimum 3 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience. NPO sector knowledge will be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems - preferably Financial Edge.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, including an intermediate level working knowledge of Excel.
  • Preferably working towards CPA or equivalent experience
  • Fundamental knowledge around CRA rules and guidelines surrounding Charities and NPOs.
  • Payroll knowledge including familiarity with Payworks payroll system would be an asset.
  • Well-developed personal, organizational and communication skills.


Organization and administration;


  • Assist controller with;
  • Budgeting and forecasting.
  • Contract revenue, miscellaneous revenue.
  • Monthly general ledger reconciliations.
  • Preparation and import of journal entries
  • Administration of P-cards
  • Timely month-end close
  • Assist with Ad hoc government reporting including:
  • Annual CRA Charity Return
  • WCB reporting
  • Provincial corporate reporting


  • Support and resource knowledge for:


  • Payroll
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Support capital accounting including tracking of fixed assets, monthly depreciation journal entries, revenue recognition, etc.
  • Assist controller in managing agency insurance policies and contracts.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end/monthly accounting data and financial statements.
  • Perform payroll regular or extra run in the absence of payroll administrator.
  • Perform Bank Reconciliations
  • Support for interim and year-end financial audit.

Other duties:

  • Other essential duties include but may not be limited to, supporting with the preparation of external filings such as GST, or any special projects as assigned by the Controller.
  • Few administration tasks as assigned.
