FASD Group Program Coordinator

Parent Support Association (PSA) provides parent peer support programs in Calgary and area for parents of difficult to manage youth. In 2008, the agency adapted their peer support model to implement peer support groups and programs for parents/caregivers of children/youth living with a suspected or have a diagnosis of FASD.

 Position Description

The PSA-FASD Peer Support Program Coordinator

 Responsibilities

  • To continue to develop, support and implement PSA/FASD Peer Support  caregivers supporting FASD children/youth
  • Develop adjunct support programs for the peer support groups
  • Develop educational presentations/Foundations Program
  • Work with Hull Psychological Services to refer parent members for counselling
  • Networking and market program within the community
  • Organize and implement PSA-FASD related events
  • Evaluation and reporting
  • Train and supervise parent volunteer facilitators

 Qualifications/Competencies

  • Degree in Social Work, Disabilities or related fields
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with FASD
  • Facilitation skills
  • Ability to work well with adults
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to plan, implement activities and evaluation
  • Organizational skills
  • A team player
  • Good communication skills – written and computer
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

 Details

This is a part-time position, including some evenings

A vehicle is required
